do business," he told WTVF-TV. "I don't have any timetable, to be
honest with you. There's no rush on my part. I came to meet the
organization, meet the people, see the community and stuff like that."
Philadelphia Inquirer
UPDATE 5/19/07: One last chemistry issue
has to do with Warren Sapp, Johnson's former teammate in Tampa. The two
men can't stand each other. In one of his frequent bull sessions with
reporters last season, Sapp was unsparing in his assessment of Johnson
as a me-first player. In a recent NFL Network special about Tampa Bay's
Super Bowl season, he hammered Johnson again.

said Friday in a telephone interview. "I'm just chilling. There's no
sense of urgency on this end."

According to a report on Sports Illustrated's Web site, the Seahawks
have expressed interest in signing veteran free agent WR Keyshawn
Johnson, who was released by the Carolina Panthers last week.

UPDATE 5/4/07: A day
after telling ESPN that "several teams have expressed interest" in
Keyshawn Johnson and that "he does have offers," the agent for the
veteran receiver refused to say if the Vikings were on that list.
Star-Tribune
UPDATE 5/4/07: According to an NFL source with strong connections to Johnson, the
Packers are doing their homework on the 11-year veteran and are
considering whether he would be a good fit for their team.
Journal-Sentinel
UPDATE 5/3/07: Sources also said the Chargers told agent Jerome Stanley they are not interested in Johnson.
Union-Tribune
UPDATE 5/3/07: "We are interested in Keyshawn, to what extent I can't tell you. We'll
look at the tape and see where he is,'' Jeff Fisher said on his radio show.
"This is a deal that it could happen and it may not happen, we just
don't know."
Nashville Tennessean
UPDATE 5/2/07: Keyshawn Johnson might have to put his television career on hold. Word
is there might be a pretty good market for him. The Eagles, Chargers,
Giants and Titans are rumored to be among the teams that are at least
thinking about pursuing Johnson.
Charlotte Observer
UPDATE 5/1/07: The Panthers did pay Johnson $1 million April 1. But that was
deferred money from the signing bonus he agreed to when he initially
signed with the Panthers. Johnson also was due a $1 million reporting
bonus at the start of training camp. Obviously, he won't get that money
and it won't count against the salary cap.
Charlotte Observer
UPDATE 5/1/07: Some very important people in the organization weren't happy when
Johnson failed to stand up and take blame away from quarterback Jake
Delhomme after some critical passes intended for Johnson were
intercepted. At least one very important person in the organization
urged Johnson to do that and he didn't.
Charlotte Observer
UPDATE 5/1/07: The Carolina Panthers released receiver Keyshawn Johnson today, three
days after they selected another former USC receiver in the second
round of the draft.
