 UPDATE 9/19/07: ...the club (Browns) on Tuesday signed Scott Player, a more reliable backup punter than Paul Ernster, who was waived.

UPDATE 8/30/07:   Player, who owns a career 43.1-yard punting average, joined the Cardinals in 1998 and appeared in 140 games over nine seasons with the team. He was selected to the 2000 Pro Bowl and was the last remaining player from Arizona's 1998 playoff team.
