UPDATE 8/29/07: Another player, most likely
with some game experience -- such as Anthony Wright or Andrew Walter,
if either becomes available -- is expected to be acquired for the No. 3
job. Asking someone to come in at this late date to learn a new offense
and compete for Redman's job could be a stretch.

add a veteran quarterback in free agency, a name to keep in
mind is Anthony Wright. He broke into the league with
Pittsburgh, played five years in Baltimore and ended last

2001: After earning the Cowboys backup spot behind Quincy Carter in
training camp, Wright spent little time on the sidelines…When Carter
suffered an injured thumb in practice on 9/12, Wright became the team’s
starter against S.D. (9/23). In just his third career start, Wright
completed 12-of-25 passes for 193 yards and three TDs, including an
80-yard scoring toss to Raghib Ismail for his first career TD pass.
2000: Joined the Cowboys practice squad on 8/30 after being
released by Pittsburgh…Wright was moved up to the active roster
11/21…He was the third quarterback in the Thanksgiving Day loss to Min.
(11/23), and then saw his first action of NFL regular season action at
T.B. (12/3)…In limited fourth quarter action against Tampa Bay, Wright
completed one-of-three passes for 10 yards during the only drive he
led…After a concussion forced Aikman out the following week against
Was. (12/10), Wright took over late in the first quarter and led the
Cowboys to a 32-13 victory…He completed three-of-five passes for 73
yards, including a 46-yard toss to James McKnight over Deion Sanders on
his first attempt of the game…Wright directed the Cowboys to three TDs
and three field goal attempts in his 11 possessions against the
Redskins (two other drives ended in kneel downs to end the half and
game)…Helped lead Dallas to its seventh straight victory over its chief
NFC East rival…In his first professional start against N.Y. Giants
(12/17), Wright was 13-of-25 for 119 yards and one INT…He also ran four
times for 26 yards, including a 19-yard gain…He paced Dallas to a 13-0

1999: After signing with Pittsburgh as a rookie free agent, Wright
completed eight-of-19 passes for 70 yards while rushing for 34 yards on
four carries in the preseason…He impressed Steelers coaches enough to
earn a spot on the active roster as the fourth quarterback…He was
inactive for the first 11 games of the season before being declared
Pittsburgh’s third quarterback at Jax. (12/2)…He was promoted to the
second quarterback spot for the season finale against Ten. (1/2/00) but
did not see any playing time.

Wright posted a 116.3 quarterback rating as a senior on 145-of-273
passing for 1,899 yards, 10 TDs and 10 INTs despite overcoming major
knee surgery during his junior campaign…He led the Gamecocks in total
offense (1,955 total yards) during his final season…He completed
139-of-252 passes for 18 TDs and five INTs as a junior before tearing
the ACL in his right knee against Tennessee and missing the final two
games of the season…He ranked seventh in the Southeastern Conference in
total offensive yards-per-game (193.4) as a junior…As a first-year
starter as a sophomore, Wright completed 131-of-244 passes for 1,850
yards, eight TDs and six INTs…He threw for two TDs and an INT on
